Customs quarantine of fresh-cut flowers for pests
In Nanjing Customs District, officers from Lianyungang Customs quarantined 3,000 export seedlings of moth orchids in a local flower company on November 6 and, after issuing the Phytosanitary Certificate, cleared this batch of orchids abroad within the same day.
As the clearance time is usually urgent for export orchids, Lianyungang Customs House includes the prevention and quarantine on plant diseases and pests into everyday control before the export by helping the businesses maintain disease/pest prevention and control system.
The Customs House keeps monitoring the plantation management of export flower businesses to ensure the compliance with quarantine requirements; at the port of exit, it sets up a special “green lane” with 7×24-hour service reservation to speed up the export clearance, ensuring the fresh flower quality.
According to the Customs information, many domestic businesses are not familiar with foreign quarantine requirements, so the Customs actively provides such foreign information for them to minimize the risk of return.
