Nanjing Customs Helps Export Succulents from Lianyungang
08/30/2020

Customs inspection of export succulents in the field

In Nanjing Customs District, more than 44,800 succulent plants were exported from the port of Lianyungang on August 5, registering the largest quantity of export by the exporter, Lianyungang Flower King Agri-Technology Company, since the pandemic outbreak.

Nowadays, succulent plants are the new favorite of pot culture around the world. However, under the pandemic impact, the reduction in outbound flights has caused the succulent export to decrease sharply.

To meet overseas market demands, Lianyungang Customs House actively researches foreign bans and restrictions on the plant, keeping domestic enterprises updated with the latest requirements; also conducts pest probe in local plantations to help enterprises with pest control and product management. Besides, the Customs implements strict quarantine procedures to ensure export succulents free of diseases and pests, issuing phytosanitary certificate as soon as possible to minimize the clearance time.

By statistics, from January till July, Lianyungang Customs cleared over 350,000 succulents out to Japan, Singapore and other countries/regions.
