The “SMS ESSA” oil-drilling platform to export

On September 2, under the control of Dalian Customs District in northeast China's Liaoning Province, the “SMS ESSA” oil-drilling platform, weighing 12,360.2 tons, was exported by a semi-submersible transport ship to Abu Dhabi, the UAE for the purpose of leasing. 

This jack-up drilling rig, constructed by Dalian COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Company LTD., is easy to handle offshore with international advanced technologies. However, the transport ship could not call at a port, only anchoring offshore, because its exemption from health control had expired due to the current pandemic and bad weather.

Being aware of the situation, Dalian Customs immediately contacted relevant enterprises to streamline the clearance process by overcoming the challenges of the pandemic and bad weather. At the anchorage site, customs officers conducted quarantine and health control over the ship, the crew, food and other supplies onboard and then issued a valid certificate for health control exemption, so as to ensure the timely delivery of the exporting platform.
